How do I select the best evaluation table for my test?
Selecting a suitable evaluation table
Evaluation tables (interpretation standards) contain the soil/ plant test criteria that the laboratory results are compared to determine the soil's ability to sustain productivity with no addition of fertiliser or amendments.
The names of the Evaluation Tables contain the crop or pasture species and may also include target yield range, growth stage, and soil PBI range to refine the soil/ plant status more closely.
When selecting the Evaluation Table (ET) in the app
-
find the right crop by typing the name into the ET selector in the BP Mobile sampling app
-
for soils, consider the options available for your target yield range and PBI range
-
if you are unsure about the PBI of the soils in your area, use the following as a general guide.
-
0- 70, lighter textured range, sand to loamy sands
-
70- 280, medium texture range - sandy loans to medium clay
-
280 + heavy clay soils, acidic red soil in moderate-high rainfall areas
-
-
in the case of plant tissue test, ensure you are familiar with the growth stage and plant part the ET is based on before sampling to ensure the sample taken aligns with the ET.
If in doubt, send us a quick message, and we can quickly help ensure you get a good match between the test selected and an appropriate set of evaluation criteria.
